Ordering

Fill out the Inked Kicks Custom Order Form.

Please keep in mind that the deliverable date and feasibility are dependent on the availability of the exact shoe. I’ll review your request and get back to you about next steps!

You can order any canvas shoe, and I’ll work with what’s available. If your first choice isn’t available, I’ll let you know so we can plan an alternative. Typically, the best options are Vans classic slip-ons, Vans Era, Vans Authentic (for women), Vans Chukka/Chukka Boot, Keds canvas shoes, Toms, and Converse Chuck Taylors. If you order any of these, you’ll be golden.

I can also customize shoes that you already own. Email me at hello@inkedkicks.com so I can assess if the shoes are possible to work with. If so, please keep in mind you will need to cover shipping to send the shoes to me.

Leather shoes, such as Nike Air Force 1, can also be customized. Please send an email for additional custom pricing information.

Yes! Send me a message at hello@inkedkicks.com with photos of the shoes and what kind of design you’re interested in. If the shoes are too dirty or soiled on the upper or sole, I won’t be able to work with them. If I can, please keep in mind that you will need to cover shipping to send your shoes to me.

Once we’ve sorted out the details of your request via email, I’ll send you information for payment via PayPal or Venmo that includes the total cost of the custom shoes and shipping. Painting begins once the full payment has been made.

Delivery time is about 2-4 weeks per pair from the date we’ve finalized the details of the design. This depends on the complexity of the artwork, availability of the shoe, and whether it is a domestic or international order. So, if you have an event date in mind, it’s best to order 4 weeks in advance.

Most pairs I create start from fresh white shoes. If you have an idea of colored shoes you want a design added to, I can make that happen too.

No two pairs are ever the same. Once I have a good sense of the topics you’re interested in and whether you prefer black and white (ink drawing) or colored shoes (ink and paint), I figure out how best to utilize the shoes to capture the story.

Don’t know what you want on your shoes? Not a worry. We can figure it out together. Then, you just kick back and wait for the surprise.

Yes, both Etsy and custom ordered shoes can be shipped internationally. Etsy shipping rates will be available once the store is live. If ordering a custom pair internationally, I’ll specify the rate in a follow-up email after I’ve reviewed your submission form.

Unfortunately, no. Since custom orders are created for a specific individual’s size and request, they cannot be returned. However, I make sure to have a good sense of what your interests are before starting any work so that you can feel confident in the final product.

Only pre-made designs for infants will be available on Etsy soon. Since custom painted Inked Kicks depend on a very specific style and size for an individual, I only hand-paint one pair at a time by request.

Everything Else

All colors are applied with a water-based, non-toxic flexible acrylic paint that will not chip, crack or fade with time. Portraits are drawn with archival ink that will also stay dark with time. The shoes are then sprayed with an acrylic fixative for protection, and an additional waterproof spray.

Infant shoes are not sprayed at all, but the paint alone will still work great on its own.

While Inked Kicks are durable, the art is hand painted/drawn so may be a bit more sensitive than mass-printed designs. If you get your kicks a little dirty, only use water and a soft towel to clean them. You can also apply additional layers of waterproof protection to your shoes once you receive them, if you prefer.

I’ve been asked this a few times and my answer is yes! Many of my customers order a pair just to display in their homes or offices like any other painting. Many also order them as gifts for weddings, baby showers, baby reveals (any reveal, really… like gifting expensive concert tickets), birthdays and holidays.
